Creating a values-driven culture

ENGAGE has worked for several years with a major player in the fast-changing media industry. Faced with rapid sector transformation, the company realised that its values were a competitive differentiator.

It enlisted ENGAGE to help create a new set of values and behaviours as the basis for its culture. We used a combination of leadership workshops, manager sessions, employee focus groups and a census culture audit to identify core values and behaviours.

These were then illustrated using clips from the company’s own major global TV and film productions to help employees understand them.

Embedding values across the organisation

Our next step was to support the organisation in embedding the agreed values and behaviours throughout the business, and at every stage of the employee lifecycle – from recruitment through to alumni activity.

But our work didn’t stop there. Our long-term, partnership approach meant we were able to help the organisation measure its progress on getting the values lived at every level

Using a range of bespoke survey approaches, we were able to demonstrate that its focus on values and behaviours has had a measurable impact on business performance.

Correlating culture to business success

The values and behaviours we identified with the organisation have helped the company to focus on its core principles during a period of intense transition.

Having gone through two significant mergers in the last 24 months, maintaining a clear focus on culture has ensured success.

Today, the company has turned its new values-led culture into commercial success with a 40% increase in subscribers in the most recent quarter alone.
